I want to book a room from the Online Booking System but the booking button turned grey. What can I do?
You can go to the Circulation Counter to try to make a walk-in booking.
I find that a room is booked by someone but there is no one in the room. Can I make a walk-in booking?
In this case, please check with the Circulation Counter on the room status first. For Individual Study Room, the room will be released to others if the user does not show up after 15 minutes while for Collaborative Workroom & MLLC Rooms will be released to others if the user does not show up after 15 minutes.

A. Network Printing service
Lingnan students can prepay printing deposit for making network printing from the computers at the Library.
B. Octopus Printing serviceÂ
There are Octopus network printers available in the Library. Printing charge will be deducted directly from your Octopus Card when printing documents. The price for printing is the same as Network Printing.

You can add value to your network printing account at the Circulation Counter. You may choose to add $10 / $20 / $30 into your account. Please notice this service would be stopped 30 minutes before the Library closes.
Yes, all of the photocopiers inside the Library are operated by Octopus Card.
Academic staff can borrow an Octopus Card at the Circulation Counter by showing his/her staff card. Please return the Octopus Card to the Circulation Counter after usage.
No. Please go to the student canteen for Octopus value-adding service.
Scanners are installed at the Chiang Chen Information Commons on the 1/F, MLLC on the 2/F, and computer areas on the 3/F of the Library. Besides, there is Octopus Network Scanners at the Information Commons and MLLC operated by Octopus Card (please note that this service is free of charge).
The new Kyocera photocopiers (in the two Photocopier rooms on the 1/F, 1/F Reading Room, 2/F Serials Collections, 3/F North) also haveÂ scanning function. Users can save the scanned pages to the USB drive.

Wireless LAN access (LUWLAN1X) is available to Lingnan staff and students. To access the wireless LAN, you need a notebook PC with wireless LAN card (IEEE 802.11b or IEEE 802.11g compatible).
If you do not own a notebook computer, 20 notebook PCs with wireless LAN connectivity are also available for loan to Lingnan staff and students. These notebooks are configured with Lingnan Wireless LAN (LUWLAN1X) and are ready for use. To access the Wireless LAN service, please follow the procedures shown after startup of the notebook. You may borrow them at the Library Circulation Counter (1/F, University Library). Loan terms of the equipment:

Why canâ€™t I request notebook computer from the Library Catalogue? I often cannot borrow notebooks since they are being borrowed all the time.
Due to the high demand of notebook computers, the function of requesting of such materials is disabled. Please refer to the Library Catalogue or the Circulation Counter for the availability of notebook computers.
Access to library subscribed online databases like ProQuest and WiseNews is identified by IP address. If you click on a database link from off-campus, you will be directed to the Library Login page. From there you can enter your Lingnan email login name and password, the same one you use to access your campus email. If there is a problem with that link, you can also login using your Library barcode number at the bottom of your campus ID card and your PIN number.
You may also use SSL VPN service provided by ITSC to gain access to library online resources.
For remote access to Local TV Programmes, you would need to use SSL VPN service.
Can I access the Internet at another university campus in Hong Kong? I am going abroad for study or research. Can I access the Internet and Library resources?
eduroam is a worldwide academic consortia that allows students and faculty to access the wireless network on any participating campus. It allows you to access the wireless networks at any of the University Grants Committee funded institutions in Hong Kong; at participating institutions in Mainland China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand and in most of Europe. Remote access of online databases is available to current Lingnan staff and students only due to licensing restrictions. For JULAC card holders / external borrower card holders, you have to come to the Library to use the online databases and other electronic resources.
