SUGGESTIONS OF BOOK RETURN SERVICE [20 MAY 2009]

At this moment, we do not have any plan to provide book return service at MTR stations. When the Library is open, you can use the book drop near the Library 1/F Entrance.  When the Library is closed, books can be returned to the book drop on the ground floor of the Main Building near the University Main Entrance.

NOISE IN THE LIBRARY [20 Apr 2009]

Thank you for your comment and suggestion to the Library. The Library has been trying our best to serve the diversified user needs. We provide facilities and equipment for students who work alone or in group. From our observation, our students are generally making good use of the computing facilities and conducting work at a reasonable noise level. Library staff will remind users to keep quiet if they are talking loudly in the Library.

COMMENT ON LIBRARY COMPUTING AND PRINTING EQUIPMENT [07 Mar 2009]

Thank you for your comment on library computing and printing equipment. We note the fact that most library computers are occupied for use in the daytime. In case you do not find a free computer during the peak hours, please try to go to the Main Computer Lab (MB202), the computer labs in the academic buildings or the New Academic Block as computer terminals and printing facilities are also available there. We are pleased to inform that to meet the growing computing needs, the University will construct a new super lab on 4/F of the Main Building.

PROBLEMS ON SCANNER AND COMPUTER [17 Feb 2009]

SUGGESTION OF EXTENDING THE OPENING HOURS OF LIBRARY [23 Dec 2008]

The library has been monitoring the usage figures and will adjust its opening hours according to service demand.  Due to resources constraint, we do not have any plan to extend the service hours after 10:00 pm on Friday because the number of users coming to the library is not high.  Please note that the library also provides full services during the weekends to meet the study and research needs for students who are not

NOISE IN THE LIBRARY [18 Dec 2008]

When noticing students talking to a mobile phone in the newspaper reading and study areas, library staff will remind them the rules and regulations. Records will be taken on repeated offences. We shall remind our staff the necessary actions in this regard. Because the Library has 3 floors, we cannot patrol the whole area all time throughout the day, especially in the evening when manpower is concentrated at the counters. Students need to exercise their self-discipline in enabling the space conducive to learning.

LIBRARY TEMPERATURE [13 Dec 2008]

The Lingnan Library has been trying our best to provide a comfortable environment for reading and research. However, it should be noted that different areas of the Library have different pattern of user flow, shelf and furniture setting, equipment concentration, etc., so the temperature will not be exactly the same across the entire building. We had forwarded your suggestion to our Facility Management Division for inspection. The air-condition system was checked with temperature adjusted to 25 degree Celsius in accordance with the University's guideline.
