THE DISPLAY OF NEW AV MATERIALS (5 Jan 2013)

Thank you for your following comment to the Library. Please note that we stop the display of new materials, i.e. books and AV materials, during the term breaks given the fact that less number of staff and students will come to the Library that time or they will not come as often as term time. By doing so, a user can check out the materials as soon as they are processed for learning or research off campus. Although it may not be meeting your expectation, such an arrangement should better meet the need of staff and students during this period of time.

HOT WATER SUPPLY AND ROOM BOOKING DURING TERM BREAK (3 Aug 2012)

Thank you for your suggestions to the Library.

Some users already expressed the same suggestion on installing drinking fountains which supply hot water in the Library.  A request has been submitted to the university administration for consideration.  We shall keep users informed of the progress.

Provided that there are empty Individual Study Rooms during the summer term break period, we are happy to allow users to request for using the rooms even if their room quotas are finished.  Please feel free to approach our Circulation Counter for necessary arrangement.

PROVIDING HOT WATER IN THE LIBRARY (26 Apr 2012)

Thank you for your suggestion to the Library. It is a very useful one. We invited the Facilities Management Division of the Comptroller's Office to look at the possible sites in library and advise on the construction, hygiene and related issues. After their feasibility study, we will discuss with the university administration for a budget. We shall keep you informed of the progress.

Tommy Yeung

ALUMNI BORROWING PRIVILEGES (27 FEB 2012)

Thank you for your following suggestion to the Library. As a general rule, all UGC Libraries give a greater privilege to staff and students who make use of library materials for research and learning purposes. Lingnan is no exception to this rule. In our case, an alumni can use AV materials in house for 3 hours, not one hour as you mentioned below. Furthermore, the Library opens until 8 p.m. during the weekends, Saturday and Sunday. So alumni should have sufficient time to finish watching a movie or listening to a CD even though he comes late in the afternoon.

NOISE IN THE MLLC (24 NOV 2011)

Thank you for your comment to the Library.

SUGGESTION ON SCANNER [1 SEP 2011]

Thank you for your comment and suggestion to the Library. We also note that after upgrading all PC to Win7 interface, the time for scanning with HP G4010 scanner has been lengthened. For scanning a large number of pages, you are recommended to use the Octopus Scanner at the IC area which provides faster scanning service than the HP G4010 scanner. If you encounter problems in using the scanners, please contact library staff for assistance.

NOISE AND NEWSPAPERS IN THE LIBRARY [2 JUN 2011]

Thank you for your comment and suggestion to the Library.

Signs have been put up for reminding students to keep quiet in Library.  Library staff have regular patrol of public areas and will remind users to discuss at a reasonable noise level.  However, if you identify any student who is talking too loudly in the public area or have any other problem when using the Library, please do not hesitate to contact staff at the Circulation Counter or Information Commons Counter so that we can take immediate action and send a staff to deal with the matter on spot.

NOISE IN THE LIBRARY [18 APR 2011]

Thank you for your comment to the Library. Library staff would remind users to conduct their work at a reasonable noise level if they find anybody is talking loudly in the Library. Would you tell us more about the unpleasant situation you had come across, i.e. the place, date and time, so that we can keep an eye on this particular area.

PRINTER PAPER [24 MAR 2011]

Please note that the printing charge covers paper, toner and other expenses. The Library does not provide free plain paper. On seeing user taking paper out from printers, library staff will remind users refraining from doing so.
