COMMENTS IN CAMPUS GLOW(嶺暉) ABOUT BOOKS UNFOUND IN THE LIBRARY [16 Apr 2010]

Thank you for your comment in Campus Glow (嶺暉) about books unfound in the Library.

Please note that there are more than 450,000 book items in the Library and we have been trying our best to maintain the shelf order.  But occasionally, some items cannot be located on shelf.  There are many reasons, e.g. some books are currently being used, some are charged out by other users, some are mis-placed, some have just been returned and waiting for reshelving, etc.

USING COMPUTERS IN THE LIBRARY [08 Apr 2010]

As far as we can observe, most library computers are used for legitimate learning and research purposes. The Library Regulation 2.6 stipulates that “no games are allowed in the Library.” And library staff will remind students to stop playing games on library computers. Please note that we do not have related policy of refraining students from visiting Facebook, joining discussion groups or watching YouTube movies using library computers.

SUGGESTION OF HOLD REQUESTS [03 Mar 2010]

Thank you for your suggestions to the Library. Please note that any LU Library user can always make a hold request to item which is checked out by another user. Although some users do check HKALL for other available copies, the Library does not have the policy to require the user to check HKALL before putting a hold or require him to borrow from another library if a copy is available there.

Should you need further assistance, please feel free to contact us.

LIBRARY TEMPERATURE [02 Mar 2010]

The Lingnan Library has been trying our best to provide a comfortable environment for reading and research. However, it should be noted that different areas of the Library have different pattern of user flow, shelf and furniture setting, equipment concentration, etc., so the temperature will not be exactly the same across the entire building. We had forwarded your suggestion to our Facility Management Division for inspection. The air-condition system would be checked with temperature adjusted to 25 degree Celsius in accordance with the University’s guideline.
