Library Card Applications
Users must show their valid library cards when they enter the Library. Please check the following procedures for different groups of applicants:

- Lingnan Staff Members on Non-University Payroll

Lingnan University Students and staff can use their University ID Cards as Library Cards.
- Application Forms: Graduates of Lingnan University and of the Community College at Lingnan University (Associate Degree and Higher Diploma) may apply for a Borrower's Card or Reader's Card. Please click here to register online or download the application form in either PDF or MS-WORD format. Cardholders of the Lingnan Graduate Master Card issued by the Bank of East Asia can also be admitted to the Library with the same privileges as the Reader's Card holders.

- Application Procedure:
Please return the completed application form to the address below with the following documents:
- One recent photo with the applicant's name printed at the back
- A crossed cheque with the appropriate amount made payable to "Lingnan Univeristy"
- The expired library card if this is a renewal
- A photocopy of the applicant's student card or graduation certificate

- Lingnan staff members employed by individual departments / research units who are not issued the regular staff ID card may apply for a "Temporary Library Card" free of charge. Their borrowing privileges are the same as the regular staff. The application form is available in either PDF or MS-WORD format. The employment letter issued by the department unit should be presented together with the completed application form.
- Borrower’s Card for other UGC Libraries
Eligible members:
1. Academic and administrative equivalent staff member; OR
2. Full-time Research Assistant; OR
3. Postgraduate Degree StudentJULAC Library (Borrower) Cardholders can access and borrow items from other UGC Libraries.
Eligible members:
Undergraduate Degree Student (UGC-Funded Programmes)
- UGC-funded Year 1 - 3 students may apply for renewable Reader's Card of CUHK, CityU, HKIEd, PolyU and HKU Libraries separately.
- Each Reader's Card is valid for 1 year (1 Aug to 31 Jul).
- Each student can make one application to each library within each academic year. In other words, you can make applications and go to CUHK, CityU, HKIEd, PolyU and HKU Libraries in the same academic year.
- Black-out periods may apply when service demand is high, e.g. during examination periods.
- Applications should be made at Lingnan. Applicants should get the application form at the Circulations Counter (1/F, Library). A recent photo (with the applicant's name printed at the back) will be required.
- When the Reader's Card is available for pickup, the applicant will be informed by e-mail.
- The Reader's Card must be activated separately for each UGC library that the student wants to visit. A processing fee of $50 will be charged by each UGC library for each activation. Such registration will expire on 31 July every year and a fee of $50 must be paid again to activate the Reader's Card for this UGC library again. The processing fee must be paid using crossed cheques payable to the corresponding institutions at the other UGC libraries.
- The access privilege only offers students the right to use materials and make photocopies inside the corresponding library. No library materials can be charged out.
- Students must abide by the library regulations of the corresponding libraries.
- Application is not available to Associate Degree Programme students and students of self-financed programmes.
Reader's Card and Access to HKBU Library and the HKUST Library
(A) Access to Baptist University Library
- UGC-funded Year 1 - 3 students are eligible to access the Baptist University Library.
- A valid Lingnan UID Card must be shown on request.
- The access privilege only offers students the right to use materials and make photocopies inside the Baptist University Library. No Library materials can be charged out.
- Students visiting Baptist University Library must abide by the library regulations there.
- This special arrangement does not cover Associate Degree Programme students and students of other self-financed programmes.
(B) Access to the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology Library
- Generally no prior application is required for accessing the HKUST Library.
- However the HKUST Library reserves the right to reject or restrict the use of their materials, services and facilities by visitors, particularly during the examination periods. For details, please refer to the HKUST policy for visitors to the Library.
For a refund of the deposit for Graduates or External Users Borrower's Card, please apply in person at the Circulation Counter with the following documents:
- The Borrower's Card
- The deposit receipt
- Borrower's Card Deposit Refund Request Form
