Call numbers are shelf numbers for library materials. For example:

Call numbers without a prefix are shelved in the General Collection (1/F and 3/F).

Call numbers with a location prefix are shelved at the following locations:

• Dictionary Stand = Located at the dedicated dictionary stand in the Library
  　
• [LBK] = English and Chinese Large Books are inter-shelved together in the Large Book Collection (1/F for class A-N, 3/F for class P-Z)
  　
• Newspaper rack = Located next to the Serials Collection (2/F)
  　
• [REF] = Reference Collection (1/F)
  　
• [RES3H] = Reserve Collection (1/F) (Located in the Circulation Counter or 1/F Reading Room)
  　
• [RES2D] = Reserve Collection (1/F) (Located in the Circulation Counter or 1/F Reading Room)
  　
• [RES7D] = Reserve Collection (1/F) (Located in the Circulation Counter or 1/F Reading Room)
  　
• [SER] = Serials Collection (2/F)
