1. Getting Started

Welcome to the Lingnan University Library! We hope you can make the best use of the Library to your study. Want to know more about the Library in the quickest way? This survival guide will give you some basic ideas.  

General Opening Hours

Mon - Thu 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 midnight
Fri 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Sat 9:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Sun 1:00 p.m. – 12:00 midnight

Library Card

Your Student ID Card is your Library Card for entering the Library, gaining access to your reserved rooms in the Library and borrowing Library materials.

You can login to view your current library loan status or to renew your borrowed items at: http://library.ln.edu.hk/patroninfo

Loan Quotas

For Undergraduate students (UGC funded), Associate Degree and Self-financed Degree students:

Loan Periods and Overdue Fines

Renewals

You can renew books, CD-ROM or floppy with text on loan within 3 days before the due date, provided that no hold request has been made for the same item by other users. Moreover, overdue General Collection items can also be online renewed provided that you do not have unsettled fines payment equals to HK$5 or above. Items can be renewed three times only.

Holds

You may HOLD a book either it is charged out or in "In-Process” status. Simply access the Online Catalogue and select “Request/Hold”, for a maximum of 10 items at a time. Once available, your requested item will be shown on your online circulation record and you will also be notified by email and SMS (need prior registration) for item pick-up at circulation counter where it will be kept for a maximum of 3 days.     

Recalls

Books charged out are subject to recall 14 days after they have been charged out.  

SMS Alert Service

You may register for SMS alert service so that overdue, recall and pick-up notices will be sent to your mobile phone. For registration, please visit http://www.library.ln.edu.hk/services/sms-alert-service

Floor Plans

 

24-Hour Book Drops

You may drop your borrowed books into the drop boxes located at:

  • 1/F Library entrance or
  • G/F Main Building near the University entrance or
  • The covered corridor at 1/F SEK Building

 

Conduct of Library Users

Be good friends of our Library! General conduct of Library users include:

  • No borrowing of others' cards
  • Switch off mobile phones and pagers
  • Be considerate - keep quiet
  • Take care of your personal belongings
  • No food is permitted
  • No empty seats occupancy
  • No violation of the Copyright Ordinance

Lost and Found

If you have lost your belongings (e.g. wallet, USB drive, etc.) in the Library, please approach our staff on 1/F Circulation Counter for help.
