Brief Description:

This workshop demonstrates how to use 1-Search and other tricks to locate full-text articles from full text databases like EBSCOhost databases, Proquest databases, Business Source Premier (EBSCOhost), Academic Search Premier (EBSCOhost), ProQuest Research Library (ProQuest) , ABI/Inform (ProQuest) , JSTOR, LexisNexis Academic, citation databases like EconLit, Sociological Abstracts, Google Scholar and other open source resources. Hand-on practice is available. The acquired skills will form the basis for student’s future levels of education as well as for lifelong learning.

 

Aims:

To equip students with skills on locating full text articles from various sources.

 

Duration: 60 min.

 

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this training session, students will be able to:

  • have an overview on different types of library resources in locating full-text articles.
  • apply Boolean operators, truncation and limiters in using 1-search and other databases in order to retrieve better results.
  • identify alternate resources for locating full-text articles that are not available in LU Library.
