COMMENTS IN CAMPUS GLOW(嶺暉) ABOUT BOOKS UNFOUND IN THE LIBRARY [16 Apr 2010]

Thank you for your comment in Campus Glow (嶺暉) about books unfound in the Library.

Please note that there are more than 450,000 book items in the Library and we have been trying our best to maintain the shelf order.  But occasionally, some items cannot be located on shelf.  There are many reasons, e.g. some books are currently being used, some are charged out by other users, some are mis-placed, some have just been returned and waiting for reshelving, etc.

The Library has a regular procedure to help locating unfound book items.  Users can fill out a form and library staff will check the shelves again.  After the item is found, an email notice will be sent to the user for pick up.  If the item cannot be not found after 10 days, the user will be notified accordingly.  The Library will also consider ordering a replacement copy.

According to our record, in this academic year, more than 95% of reported unfound items have been successfully located.

If you encounter any problem with unfound items and consider that the counter staff cannot help, please feel free to contact Mr. Andrew Liu, Circulation Librarian, at 2616 8580 or email andrewl@ln.edu.hk for further assistance.
