今年中通過的中醫藥條例規定中醫要持有相等於大學學位的中醫培訓學歷，並且通過註冊考試才可獲准註冊以中醫行醫，而培訓及註冊制度則仿照內地模式，加入了西醫課程，打破了本地中醫百多年來由祖傳，師承及民辦中醫學院薪火相傳的傳統。舊有的中醫培訓模式將面臨被淘汰的命運。
