Actions to safeguard food safety in Hong Kong (28 Aug 2005)

<p>Hong Kong government has made the agreement with China on steps to enhance the safety of the freshwater fish supplied to Hong Kong. Imports of frozen pork from the mainland have also been resumed despite new cases of pig disease both in Hong Kong and in Shenzhen. Is the government doing enough to safeguard food safety in Hong Kong? And what additional steps need to be taken? Discuss these issues with Dr. Ho Yuk Yin (Consultant Community Medicine of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department), Kwok Ka Ki (Representative of the Medical Functional Constituency in Legco), Dr. Desmond O&#39;Toole (a food hygiene expert with the City University of Hong Kong)</p>
