Faye Leung was born in Shanghai and trained at the Shanghai Ballet School . In 1995 Faye won a special award and first prize at the Shanghai International Ballet Competition (Teenage Group). She represented China in tours to Korea and the U.S.A. She joined the Hong Kong Ballet in October 1996 and was promoted to Principal Dancer in 2001 and Senior Principal in 2005. Faye has danced all the leads in the classics ( โ€œ Swan Lake โ€ , โ€œ The Sleeping Beauty โ€ , โ€œ Giselle โ€ , โ€œ The Nutcracker โ€ and โ€œ Romeo and Juliet โ€ ). She has also had many roles created for her by a variety of choreographers; such as Princess Jade in the โ€œ Legend of the Great Archer โ€ and โ€œ Tango Ballet Tango โ€ (Stephen Jefferies), โ€œ Turandot โ€ (Natalie Weir), Lady White in โ€œ The White Snake โ€ (Domy Reiter-Soffer), and โ€œ Dreams of Tenderness and Solitude โ€ (David Allan).
