Brides go north (22 Feb 2004)

An increase in the number of Hong Kong women applying for the "Certificate of Absence of Marriage Record" in recent years indicates an increased number of local women marrying mainland men in China. Interviews two women who have chosen this path. They tell the sacrifices they have made in doing so. Also shows a Hong Kong female senior executive working in China who finds dating a mainlander problematic because of cultural differences. She ended up socializing with Hong Kong people because she finds them more compatible and easier to communicate with in Cantonese.
