The Equal Opportunities Commission at crossroads (09 Nov 2003)

Printer-friendlyPrinter-friendly

A heated discussion between Raymond Wu Wai-yung (Member, Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) Committee) and Albert Ho Chun-yan (Legislator) with respect to the future of EOC after the resignation of its recently appointed Chairperson, Michael Wong Kin-chow. Wu defends the position of EOC in the firing of its Director of Operations, Patrick Yu Chung-yin, as an internal matter which should not be of public concern. Ho comments that the incident has damaged the reputation of EOC and Hong Kong as Yu was wrongfully dismissed, which defies the very principal that EOC is supposed to uphold.
