Beijing will host the 29th Olympiad and the 13th Paralympic Games in 2008. Hong Kong has successfully obtained the mandate to organize the equestrian games for the events. This is not just because we have over 100 years' experience in the quarantine, caring and transportation of horses. It is also because our infrastructures have reached international standards. The equestrian sport is the only item in the Olympic Games in which human-animal co-operation is necessary. Nelson YIP is the first qualified player in Hong Kong to take part in the Paralympic Equestrian Events in 2008. He has grasped philosophy of life in his contact with horses. At the same time, the 19-year-old CHENG Man-kit, who has represented Hong Kong in previous events, is practicing hard for his entry into the Olympics in 2008.With the 2008 Olympic equestrian event in sight now, more people in Hong Kong are trying to learn the sport. Mr. Lam and his family like to ride horses during weekends. Angela, who has learnt horse riding for five or six years, gave up her executive position in a computer company and is now helping the Hong Kong Equestrian Federation to promote the sport.
