Harbourfront enhancement review (30 Jan 2005)


<p>A subcommittee of the Harbourfront Enhancement Committee launched a public consultation exercise last week on plans for the Wan Chai waterfront. However, it was immediately criticised because all of its proposals entails substantial reclamation of the harbour. Was the committee tricked by the government? And is substantial reclamation inevitable if traffic congestion is to be eased? Discusses these issues with Nicholas Brooke (member of the Harbourfront Enhancement Committee), Christine Loh (chair of the Society for Protection of the Harbour) and Patrick Lau (legislator and vice-chairman of the Town Planning Board)</p>
