Since the 1997 handover, pro-democracy groups have been effectively side-lined. Calls for moves towards universal franchise have apparently fallen on deaf ears among officials and a public wallowing in economic woes. But while some have quit the political arena in frustration, others are still scrambling to get in. This program looks at their disappointments and aspirations. This, as Martin Lee, chairman of the Democratic Party for twelve years, prepares to step down by year's end, with Yeung Sum his likely successor. What chances would this bring to Hong Kong's largest opposition party?
