[Is Hong Kong's media freedom under threat?] (09 Mar 2014)

Is Hong Kong's media freedom under threat? Professor Leung Tin-wai (Head, Department of Journalism and Communication of Shue Yan University) and Mr. Ronald Chiu (Chairman of News Executives Association) would discuss the issues on media freedom. The premier of China Li, Keqiang did not mention Hong Kong has a high degree of autonomy, and Hong Kong people ruling Hong Kong in his report. Prof. Leung thinks the premier is sending a message to media but Mr. Chiu thinks Hong Kong media says there is a lack of certain words is because journalists are desperate to find a news angle to public. Besides, they would discuss the attack on a journalist, Mr. Lau, Chun-to and self-censorship of media in Hong Kong. Finally, both of them do not agree that things happened in media industry recently points to a campaign to silence the media in Hong Kong. They said there has been a lot more exposes in newspapers now than ever before and there is the indicator for press freedom
