Legco votes down motion calling on Chief Executive to resign; SARS latest (15 May 2003)

Supporters and opponents of Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa were battling it out this week. Mr. Tung has now served almost six years in office since the handover, and has four more to go, but the pro-democracy camp is calling on him to stand down. The Chief Executive's ruling team says Hong Kong's problems are largely not of his making, and have called for unity while the territory struggles to contain the SARS outbreak.
