The Lesson of 1966 And 1967 歷史告訴我們 (27 Dec 2007)

The 7th of May is a date Hong Kong should never forget. On this day in 1967, an industrial dispute took an ugly turn and developed into a period of turmoil that lasted seven long months. Granted things probably wouldn't have got out of hand without the influence of the Cultural Revolution on the mainland, but, as the Government at that time learnt, life for the people must be improved and their grievances must be taken seriously. Forty years on, has the SAR Government learnt from history? Is it giving public opinion due respect?
