Our Old Market Street (23 Jul 2009)

Printer-friendlyPrinter-friendly

‘ Outdoor Bazaar ’ is, in essence, rhetoric to glorify Hong Kong ’ s ‘ street markets ’ . Life was tough in Hong Kong the 1950s and 60s, and street vending provided a way for grassroots citizens to earn an honest living and provide for their families. Over time, this evolved into a unique ecological environment – the street market. In Central Market, the city ’ s oldest, stories of Hong Kongers have been passed down from generation to generation. Ordinary as they are, the stories are uniquely Hong Kong. Producer: Liu Wai Ling
