Hong Kong's democracy camp has an ally in person of the new American Consul-General. He says that democracy brings stability while stability without democracy was illusory. The Hong Kong government has directly criticised him but is it wrong for a foreign diplomat to support democracy? And what, if anything can the U.S. do to speed up the pace of democracy in Hong Kong?
