Revitalisation ? (14 Oct 2010)


No longer a manufacturing centre, Hong Kong has had an abundance of vacant industrial buildings for some time. Taking advantage of the low rents and the relative absence of restrictions, artists and performers have happily moved in to set up shop and formed communities known as arts villages. But there is a severe storm brewing. The Government has introduced a new policy to revitalize old industrial buildings by allowing their owners to restructure them for various commercial purposes.  Where can the artists and performers go?
