[The shame of Hong Kong, 1.2 million poor people in a very rich city] (17 Feb 2013)

Printer-friendlyPrinter-friendly

As a rich society, It is a shame to have 1.2 million poor people living in Hong Kong. Does the Chief Executive, Mr. Leung Chun-ying try to get rid of "big market, small government"? Mr. Stephen Fisher (Head of Oxfam Hong Kong and a member of the Poverty Commission) would talk about the issue in this program. He points out that the problem is the wealth is not equally shared. In addition, that is unfair for labour that Hong Kong is squeezing labour because the rent is going up. He suggests government should not rely entirely on economic development to take care of the poor, and should take a more active role in helping the poor
