Stem cell surgery in Hong Kong ; Local inventors and inventions (01 Feb 2004)

In Hong Kong, 3,000 people die from coronary heart problems annually. Looks at promising experiments conducted by doctors using stem cells extracted from bone marrow to develop human heart cells or custom-made cells. Shows the many inventions by local inventors. Ng Tze-chuen (Inventor) whose Mars Rock Corer has been adopted by the European Space Agency criticizes the government for offering him no congratulatory gesture and failing to see the springboard business opportunities from local inventions. Cheung King-fung (Chairman, Hong Kong Inventors Association) also reiterates the significance of government's role and funding in support of local inventors.
