Printer-friendlyPrinter-friendly

With presenter Steve Vines in the studio today is guest co-host Christine Fang, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. Mr Tung's 8th Policy Address was billed as focussing on poverty, so Ms. Fang gives us her expectations of, and responses to, the address, and concludes that while it may have asked the right questions, the answers weren't really specific. A report covers the main points of the address, and presents the feedback of politicians We also have a man-in-the-street response from some of our most commonly encountered amateur political pundits: cab drivers and minibus drivers. In Part Two we look at the sometimes contentious question and answer session in Legco, where legislators got a chance to make their points directly to the Chief Executive. And then we have another considered opinion. That of Leo Goodstadt, economist, founder of the Central Policy Unit, and its head for Governors Chris Patten and David Wilson, as well as the writer of "Uneasy Partners: The Conflict between Public Interest and Private Profit in Hong Kong"
