We Create a Market (19 Jan 2003)

Printer-friendlyPrinter-friendly

Hong Kong people are often proud of their quick application of the most updated technology. Once a potential market is found, we would tailor-make relative products to meet the needs. Therefore, when they knew foreign computer systems could not satisfy the needs of Chinese caterers, three Hong Kong people quitted their jobs and devoted themselves in the development of a set of catch-all software for the Chinese catering system. After seven to eight years, they became the leader in the profession and their system has attracted the attention of a Japanese multinational enterprise. Following the eventual acquisition by the Japanese enterprise, the software company is on their marks to set foot in the international market. It is important to have a clear picture of the targeted market before starting a business. A professor and a lecturer of the Lingnan University would comment on several issues arising from the marketing concepts. By citing the above case, it is hoped that the audience would have a deeper understanding of the market operation.
