Looks at the evolution of marriage rituals in Hong Kong. The traditional matrimonial ceremonies are illustrated by three indigenous tribes. First is the fishermen in Tai O who have engagement and wedding rituals on fishing boats coupled with traditional music. The second is the Hoklo tribe who modify their traditional dragon boat dance to suit the city environment. The third is those people living in walled villages who uphold male superiority and matched marriages. A couple who celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary talk about their marriage through courtship. But centuries-old customs are fading due to social and economic changes.
