Perspective donations for ASC Collection would be carefully reviewed according to our Collection Development Policy.
We accept materials in any tangible or electronic formats, including but not limited to:
- Publications
- Manuscripts
- Personal records
- Memorabilia / Realia / Ephemera
- Art or Artifacts
- Audio-Visual Materials
- Photographs
We also welcome donation of “Contents”. We understand some collectibles or materials would have special meaning to the owner or as Lingnanians. Thus, instead of transferring the ownership, the contents can be temporarily deposit to ASC for reformatting or reproduction on appropriate media for retention. ASC staff would liaise with the donors concerned for details.
Acceptance Arrangement
All accepted materials for Archives and Special Collections would be handled with caution and care.
- Accessioning and Appraisal
Whenever applicable and necessary, a copy of Deed of Gift, would be issued for dual signature by the following two parties, to confirm the transferal of copyright / ownership / custodial right of the item(s) donated to ASC, and also prescribes conditions and restrictions (if any) related to the donation:
- Donor (or his/her designate / representative)
- Representative of Lingnan University
- Arrangement and Description
Accepted materials would be further appraised and arranged by the Archives and Special Collections Team. Descriptive Cataloging record / Finding Aids would be created, addressing the content and historical scope of the materials and a description of how the collection is arranged.All records / finding aids are open for searching and browsing.
