The Library currently has 9 active OA agreements with the following publishers. Click on the publisher to learn more about their OA eligibility and their author workflow. Please contact Library Support Team if you need support for OA publishing.
American Chemical Society (ACS)

The Library has entered Open Access Publishing Agreement with ACS (American Chemical Society), allowing Lingnan authors to publish OA in ACS journals at no additional cost (until quota permits), upon fulfilling the following conditions:
- ACCEPTED for publications in ACS journals (Hybrid + Gold OA) [List of ACS Journals for OA]
- Date of Acceptance: Fall within 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2026
- Have a Corresponding Author AFFILIATED with Lingnan University
- Corresponding Author MUST use Lingnan Email Address (ending with @LN.edu.hk or @LN.hk) upon submission, in order to attribute your accepted article manuscript with OA Agreement between LU and ACS.

Once an article is accepted for publication in ACS journal, corresponding author will receive an email to complete the Journal Publishing Agreement (JPA) via Copyright Clearance Center (CCC).
Below is a brief summary to complete the JPA. For full guidance, please see “ACS OA Publishing Lingnan University” for details.
Point to note:
- Upon reaching JPA page, "Yes, I wish to publish open access as per the agreement", followed by click "Order Open Access".
- You will then be direct to Copyright Clearance Center Rightslink, register and log in to the Rightslink. You will then see a notification funding options. Check "Seek Funding from the Lingnan University" option, then "Next".
- Upon receiving your response, ACS will check if the article is eligible for APC wavier based on the corresponding author's institution information.

Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)

Effective from December 2023 , the Library has entered Open Access Publishing Agreement with ACM (the Association for Computing Machinery), allowing Lingnan authors to publish unlimited number of accepted research articles as OA in ACM journals, conference proceedings and magazines at no cost to the author, upon fulfilling the following conditions:
- ACCEPTED for publications within ACM Open Program [Eligible Publication List for OA]
- Date of Acceptance: Fall within 1 December 2023 to 31 December 2025
- Have a Corresponding Author [ACM's definition] AFFILIATED with Lingnan University
- Corresponding Author MUST use Lingnan Email Address (ending with @LN.edu.hk or @LN.hk) upon submission, in order to attribute your accepted article manuscript with OA Agreement between LU and ACM.
- Eligible Article Types - Articles in the ACM Digital Library designated as "research articles":
- Research Articles
- Review Articles
- Conference or Proceedings papers
- Other articles that ACM charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) (See APC-Eligible Article Type @ ACM)
OA Publishing @ ACM Open
Upon acceptance of a manuscript by ACM, corresponding author would need to complete ACM eRights Form.
Below is a brief summary of author instructions. For full guidance, please see the document “ACM Open Author eRights Experience” for details.
Point to note:
- Lingnan corresponding author (determined by the email with @LN.edu.hk or @LN.hk) will receive an email upon having a manuscript accepted for publication in ACM Open, informing the details about the LU-ACM OA Agreement, with a link to access “eRights form”. Click on it.
- Select “Institutional Paid Open Access”, followed by opting your preferred Creative Commons license (e.g. CC-BY) for your paper in the ACM Digital Library.
- Upon confirming CC License, “ACM Permission Release Form” will be prompted. Complete and Submit the form with your preference to grant ACM the permission to publish your manuscript.
- Upon successful submission of eRights form, corresponding author will receive email confirmation of the acceptance of publication.

Cambridge University Press (CUP)

The Library has entered a “Read & Publish” Agreement with Cambridge University Press that has been commenced in 2022. Under this agreement, LU researchers are eligible to publish their "accepted manuscripts" with Open Access (OA) at no additional cost, upon fulfilling the following conditions:
- ACCEPTED for Publication in the following CUP's suites of journals:
- Humanities & Social Sciences Collection (HSS) (with Gold OA / Hybrid OA options) [Journal List]
- Cambridge Prisms [Journal List]
- Research Directions [Journal List]
- Date of Acceptance: Fall within 1 Jan 2025 to 31 Dec 2025
- Have a Corresponding Author [CUP's definition] AFFILIATED with Lingnan University
- Eligible Article Types:
- Research Article
- Review Article (except Book Review)
- Rapid Communication
- Brief Report
- Case Report
Already having an Article Accepted in CUP?
Please follow “Step-by-Step Guide” and observe some important notes highlighted for Lingnan researchers below:
Point to note:
- You are the corresponding author and use “Lingnan University” as your primary institutional affiliation. Please use your Lingnan email address when submitting your work.
- Upon reaching “Publication Decision” stage, choose "Gold Open Access" and your preferred Creative Commons license (e.g. CC-BY)
- Corresponding author will then receive an email from the Publisher's Rightslink system to process Article Process Charges (APCs)

The Library has entered OA Publishing Agreement with De Gruyter. Effective from 1 January 2025, Lingnan Researchers can publish in De Gruyter's journals in Humanities & Social Sciences (HSS) English Collection, with no transactional APC, upon fulfilling the following conditions:
- ACCEPTED for publication in In De Gruyter Hybrid and Gold OA Journals within HSS English Collection
- Date of Acceptance : Fall within 1 Jan 2025 - 31 Dec 2025
- Have a Corresponding Author AFFILIATED with Lingnan University
- Eligible Article Types:
- Research Article
- Review Article
- Rapid Communication
- Brief Report
- Case Report
Author Workflow:
- Eligible articles published in HSS English Collection will be published as OA automatically upon acceptance.
- Articles published in other Dr Gryuter's journals, corresponding author will be direct to complete Journal Publishing Agreement via Rightslink.
Elsevier

The Library has entered OA Publishing Agreement with Elsevier. Effective from 1 January 2025, Lingnan Researchers can publish in Elsevier's core hybrid journals in selective Subject Collections, with no transactional APC, upon fulfilling the following conditions:
- ACCEPTED for Publication in the following Elsevier's Journal - Subject Collections:
- Business, Management and Accounting
- Economics, Econometrics and Finance
- Social Sciences
- Date of Acceptance: Fall within 1 Jan 2025 to 31 Dec 2025
- Have a Corresponding Author AFFILIATED with Lingnan University

Author Workflow
1. Once the journal accepts your article, corresponding author will receive an email containing a link to the "post acceptance author journey".
2. Corresponding author should review affiliation and funder details. Please choose publishing choice and complete the post acceptance journey.
3. OA requests will be forwarded to Library for validation.
IEEE

The Library has entered OA Publishing Agreement with IEEE. Effective from 1 January 2025, Lingnan Researchers can publish in IEEE Open Access journals in selective Subject Collections, with no transactional APC, upon fulfilling the following conditions:
- ACCEPTED for Publication in IEEE's Full OA and Hybrid OA journals (Except Conference Proceedings; Magazines)
- Date of Acceptance: Fall within 1 Jan 2025 to 31 Dec 2025
- Have a Corresponding Author AFFILIATED with Lingnan University
- Annual Article Quota (2025) : 10 articles (to be used on first-come-first served basis by Article Acceptance Date)
Author Workflow
- Upon acceptance of an article, corresponding author will receive an email from the Publisher's Rightslink system to process Article Process Charges (APCs)
- Register and log in to the Rightslink. You will then see a notification funding options. Check "Seek Funding from the Lingnan University" option.
Oxford University Press

The Library has entered OA Publishing Agreement with Oxford University Press (OUP). Effective from 1 January 2025 until 31 December 2027, Lingnan Researchers can publish in OUP's Hybrid journals, with no transactional APC, upon fulfilling the following conditions:
- ACCEPTED for Publication In OUP's Hybrid Journals
- Date of Acceptance : 1 Jan 2025 - 31 Dec 2025 *
- Have a Corresponding Author AFFILIATED with Lingnan University (as set in the submission system at time of acceptance). Recommended to use Lingnan email address ending with @LN.edu.hk or @LN.hk in order to attribute your request with Lingnan's agreement with OUP.
- Eligible Article Types:
- Research Article
- Review Article (except Book Review)
- Case Reports
- Brief Reports

If you (corresponding author) have article ACCEPTED to be published in OUP's journals on or after 1 Jan 2025, please contact Library to follow up before OUP fully implements their system setup to handle OA transformation automatically.
Author Workflow
Upon acceptance of an article to publish in OUP's Hybrid Journals, corresponding author will receive an email with a link to the Online Licensing and Payments System - SciPris. Please read the Author Guide to learn more about the workflow.

Springer Nature

The Library has entered OA Publishing Agreement with Springer Nature. Effective from 1 January 2024, Lingnan Researchers can publish in over 1,900 hybrid journals of Springer Nature (until the annual quota permits) with OA fees covered, upon fulfilling the following conditions:
- ACCEPTED for Publication in Springer Nature - Hybrid Journals (Other Springer Full OA and Nature Research journals are EXCLUDED)
- Date of Acceptance: 1 Jan 2025 to 31 Dec 2025
- Have a Corresponding Author AFFILIATED with Lingnan University
- Eligible Article Types:
- Original Paper / Standard Article
- Review Paper
- Brief Communication
- Continuing Education
- Annual Article Quota (2025) : 10 articles (to be used on first-come-first served basis by Article Acceptance Date)
Author Workflow @ Springer Nature
Upon acceptance of an article to publish in Springer Nature hybrid journals, corresponding author will receive an email invitation to complete the publication process. Please read the Author Guide to learn more about the workflow:

Point to note:
- Identity yourself as Lingnan author with options provided. (recommended to use your Lingnan email address to facilitate the identification process)
- For articles that are identified as eligible to be covered by an OA agreement, the corresponding author will be presented with confirmation that they can publish OA with fee covered
- OA Publication request will be reviewed. Once approved, the article is published immediately as OA
- Corresponding Author will be asked to agree to an OA Creative Commons (CC) license

Wiley

The Library has entered OA Publishing Agreement with Wiley. Effective from 1 January 2024, Lingnan Researchers can publish in Wiley's Full OA / Hybrid journals or Hindawi's Full OA journals (until the annual quota permits), with no transactional APC, upon fulfilling the following conditions:
- In Wiley Hybrid Journals - ACCEPTED for Publication on or after 1 January 2025
- In Wiley / Hindawi Full OA Journals - SUBMITTED for Publication on or after 1 January 2025
- Have a Lingnan-affiliated author in "Responsible Corresponding" role at the point of acceptance of paper
- Eligible Article Types - Primary research and review articles, including but not limited to:
- Original Articles
- Case Studies
- Reviews
- Short communications
- Other content types (See Wiley's article types and their corresponding eligibility for OA publishing)
- Annual Article Quota (2025) : 10 articles (to be used on first-come-first served basis by Article Acceptance Date)

Depending on the source of journals to publish your article, you will be directed to different author workflows.
