The Lee Hak Kan Multimedia and Language Learning Centre (MLLC) on 2/F of the Library provides a one-stop venue for all the multimedia and language collections of the Library including a range of language learning materials for five main languages, examination kits for IELTS, TOEFL and TPP, etc., a wide selection of local and foreign movies, and TV series in support of the cultural studies, visual studies and translation programmes, and microfilms of old newspapers and archival materials are collected for historical research. In addition, there are numerous audio-visual viewing stations equipped with DVD and blu-ray players for viewing the multimedia materials. The Microfilm reader is also available for viewing the microfilms.
More spacious study areas are created from the removal of the counter in summer 2019. More PCs with dual monitors are installed to offer an enhanced place for study. The Centre also houses printers, copiers and scanners to facilitate the use of the materials there.
A Mini Theatre is set up for serving group activities purposes such as book talks, seminars and a study place when no events are held. In collaboration with Centre for English and Additional Languages (CEAL), an English Language Support Service with writing tutorials, IELTS practicum and academic speaking classes are conducted in the group study rooms in the Mini Theatre.
