The Library is pleased to announce the launch of 24-hour service on a trial run basis in the new Late Reading Room just handed over to the Library a few days ago as the examination is approaching. The trial run will last from 6 to 22 December 2021, covering the whole examination period to provide students with additional spaces for study. We hope that this new service is just in time to meet your study needs.
In addition, as this 24-hour operation is new to Library staff, with the space just approved by the Buildings Department and the installation of its furniture and equipment just completed, the Library would like to be cautious and make use of the trial run to acquire useful experience to handle some unexpected issues. The full operation of the Room is subject to review after the trial run. The following are the details:
Access and Hours (Trial Run of the access hours during Dec 6 – 22, 2021)
- Only Lingnan staff and students are eligible to use the Late Reading Room after the Library closes.
- Eligible users can use the Entrance on 1/F for entering and leaving the Late Reading Room.
- 50 seats are available in the area on a first-come-first-serve basis.
- The area would be closed for cleaning every day before the Library reopens. All users are required to leave the Library during the closing time below with their personal belongings. After cleaning, the area and other parts of the Library would be reopened to users.

Use of Facilities
- Always be considerate to others, the Room is for quiet study. No food or drink, and no loud discussion are allowed.
- Toilet and drinking fountains are not available during the trial run period.
- Self-Checkout Station and Book Steriliser are available outside the Room for checking out books.
- In case the Self-checkout Machine is not functioning during nighttime when other areas of the Library have closed, the checkout services will be suspended.
- Multi-Function Printer (MFP) is available outside the Room for printing, copying and scanning.
Safety
- Security guards are stationed outside the Room to patrol the study area regularly for users’ safety during nighttime.
- All Library users are reminded to observe the Library Regulations.

Meanwhile, two Group Study Rooms (no. 6 and 7) on 2/F are now available for booking. You may reserve them via the Room Booking System. We will keep you posted on the latest development of the new Library space.
